"In the early 1990s, I originally moved to Italy with Hobbs of London where I helped design their handbag, shoe, and knitwear collections in Porto San Giorgio on the Adriatic coast. The impromptu demise of my aunt, who had spent most of her life in Florence, resulted in my moving right into the Centro Storico into one of the lovely, old, paved and cobbled streets, ,famous for its antique dealers, marble sculpture and high fashion boutiqes such as Gucci and Beltrami and relic dealers.
I found work with one of Florence's lynchpin traditional buying offices, dating back to the 1950s, in palazzo Frescobaldi on the Ponte santa Trinita. I subsequently spent the following years flying back and forth to the middle and far east, and the States acting as a design consultant, sourcing agent and production manager for clients mostly based in North America. An exciting and stimulating career developed for me, and I had enormous fun whilst working at times under great pressure.
However,The wish to spend more time in my beloved Italy automatically led me to select a clientele that was more interested in working with the design, quality and innate style completely unique to Italy. I went on to work at a more exclusive designer level with Donna Karan and Ralph Lauren on outerwear and suiting, in the sartorial artisan workshops around Naples and Rome."
